My Fellow Filipinos and En Passant

I dunno if this has been discussed here, but I was wondering why my fellow Filipinos call En Passant "Paspon" (Passed Pawn). Probably not with real chess coaches or chess leagues, but I remember competing in my High School and I was told "Bawal Paspon ha?" (Paspon(en Passant) is not allowed).
Is this just in the schools I've been to or is this a thing my fellow Pinoys just do?

English translation of en passant is "passed pawn". And it is illegal to eliminate this during a game.
