Thanks so much. .
MY GREAT PREDECESSORS SERIES- Garry Kasparov
The books are excellent. I remember going through only one or two games in detail and it left a deep mark on me. Try to follow through all the variations and undoubtedly you will understand more about chess.
the best way to get better at chess is by studying it!
all great chess players have devoted thousands of hours studying each and every game they play themselves or come across other's.
Alekhine used to study Capablanca's games which benifitted him in defeating him.
that is the concept Kasparov brings to us through his books "My Great Predecessors"
it is a well annoted book spread into five volumes with each volume dedicated to some of the world champions
If you dream of being a strong chess player you should surely churn out everything from this book, it is very informative and unlike other chess books you dont get that bored since you are listening to a story in every chapter
My oppinion....books 3 to 5 are worth the buy. The 1st and 2nd volumes are already analyzed in detail in other books, some even in the mammoth book of greatest chess games and others.
I've only got book 1. When I get the money I'll get the others but, I did get one with a blue cover entitled; Kasparov, How His Predessesors Misled Him About Chess. by Tibor Karolyi, and Nick Aplin. Published by Batsford Chess.
the only problem with this book is that, the losses are already seen and analyzed in biographical books of those who won against him, Seirawan, Shirov, Gelfand, Kramnik, Karpov, Anand, Spassky ,Petrosian etc.
So its the same old Kaspy but re-analyzed by new authors. The authors are credible but it would have been nicer had it been about lost games salvaged to a draw, or games where he had to fight his way to equality.
