Oh, it seems EVERYONE...and I mean EVERYONE thought that a game like that should not take place.
Not true.
Kohai's right - we all wanted that game to happen. I had an absolute blast. The discussion was really exciting, there was lots of intrigue and Webgogs stepping up to the plate was super cool.
S'why I voted it as the best game of the month.
Here's what I don't understand about you - maybe it's cause I look at everything from a literary perspective... do you think the magic will be replicated? Every last time? "Create dozens and dozens of them."... you said, but isn't this like catching lightning in a bottle?
You created the most epic villain chess.com has known. Do you really want to tarnish it through repetition until everyone moves on?
It's like an excellent franchise on TV that, had it ended after an awesome 4 season story arc, the network wants to milk it for another 6 seasons until the only thing anyone can say about it is that it jumped the shark a long time ago.
I'm the old fan who was super impressed at what you made. But by all means, run it into the ground by begging and cajoling the community for a second game or whatever.
A number of people have likened you to Darth Vader, including yourself.
Please don't become Hayden Christiansen.
S'why I voted it as the best game of the month.
I see. So Cheater_1 thinks it's the most popular vote chess game because (s)he's close to getting voted best game of the month? It's probably a bit unfair since at least 941 people got to see that game, but that's the way the ball bounces.
This facade again. I thought we were done with this.
If we are still following webgog's unmasked line, then this is the part where everyone goes home happy, and doesn't return until SOMEONE ELSE comes up as a bigger challenge in the next movie/book/play.
If you want a REAL challenge, try entering a USCF tournament and trying to cheat. They have people stationed in the bathrooms now I hear. Don't forget the cell phone version of Cannibal!

Cheater_1 claimed to have done it in the past and had planned another one a few months ago. Though there was no news of the outcome after the claim.
As I said before, I'm not begging for another vote game. I'd most certainly LIKE to play again, but not enough people want it. I'm now back to my old ways. I'll not be a troll on this site (as I have been referred to) god knows there's so many fish here waiting, itching to take the bait. But I am better than that. I'll just slip into my old skin and make controversial posts JUST for the sake of making controversial posts. Most of you will think my posts are BS, but the TRUTH and BS are hard to distinguish apart. Both are hard to stomach by certain types of people. You know who you are.
On a lighter note, I'm GLAD to see that most of you have embraced COMPUTER CHESS PROGRAMS now. I'm glad you all can see their VALUE for improving your game. Don't fear them. USE them. If anyone that is sitting there reading this does not own a chess program then LEAVE NOW. You dont belong on this site. Not using a chess program is like never going to the driving range and hoping that you'll become a good golfer. AINT GONNA HAPPEN.
cheater_1's legacy:
Self-opinionated CHESS TROLL loses only game he has played here.
Crimes against good ENGLISH with TOO many capitalised words.
Submitted many boring and egocentric posts.
A legacy to compare with Kasparov's, there is no doubt.
It's like an accident. Many people just have to look even if some of those people know it could make them feel sick.
Wow, it really is true guys. Check the stats.
After the vote game chess program sales and downloads increased by 10000%.
As a direct result of cheater_1 chessmasters, tutors, and club players alike are NOW suddenly using the great chess engine to improve their games. No doubt the next wave of chess books too be published will all have thanks to cheater_1 for opening their eyes to the new frontier of chess.
The only legacy I see for cheater_1 is being used in a saying.
Claiming a cheater_1 victory.
I've got a couple of observations
my rating is poor compared to some players on this site.
and I don't have a chess engine and if I did would I be tempted to use it to win a game?
the answer would have to be no
I cannot see the point of using a computer against another player (even if they are using one) what is the point? what sort of victory is that? how can you cheater, gain any satisfaction from winning a game by these measures?
have you heard of karma?
my seven year old grandson can play, do i pummel him into the ground when we play? do I give him no reason to want to play again?
winning is not everything it's in the game
hey guess what
he wins every time we play
(maybe we should have let you win but I suspect not)
Let's be honest here. Honesty on this site is nearing its all time LOW. Prepare for some BRUTAL HONESTY!!!
This site has taken a new turn, and for that I'm happy, and WILL take the credit. Before our vote chess game, there was NO hype whatsoever about vote chess. YES there were games before I came along. Yes there were hundreds of people playing. YES there was no ENTHUSIASM. The administrators of this site battled amongst themselves to allow this game to happen. There is this "ANTI using chess programs to improve your play" mentality on this site that permeated the admin and players alike. Check the extremely NEGATIVE comments about our game before even a single move was made. Then, watch as the comments became overwhelmingly positive. It's all there in black and white.
ERIK and his partners were basically FORCED to alter the way they ran a portion of this site due SOLELY and 100% to the popularity of our vote chess game. I challenge any administrator on this site to dispute that.
It is all for the betterment of this site. It is a good thing. Now, what will follow will be more and more man or team vs machine. Watch as there will be machine vs machine games. Also, watch as there will be LIVE matches with team vs program games with bullet time controls. It will happen. Watch as I will be denied to participate.
I'd bet by bottom dollar that the administrators of this site are quite grateful what a success the past several months have been. They were quite skeptical as to how this vote chess game would go, and when they saw the SHEER NUMBER of players, comments, views, etc. that our game generated, they probably threw a party. They all whipped out their RYBKA or FRITZ or SHREDDER that they of course had waiting, and began using it to IMPROVE their chess play. They saw the value of using programs to TRY TO WIN.
HONESTY ALERT!!!! There is NO difference.....not one iota.....not .0000001%.... in using a chess program to win a game like you guys won our vote chess game and me hiding behind my computer screen, masquerading as a GM, using my program to cheat people. TRUTH! Oh, you think that just because you are upfront about it somehow makes it ok to use it to win.....well, with that rationale, does it make it ok that if I warn you upfront before I SMASH my fist into your face and knock out all your teeth as opposed to waiting until your back is turned? OF COURSE IT DOES NOT!! Crime is crime. Cheating is cheating. Wrong is wrong.
By even allowing people to use chess programs to play games in order to win, you are condoning cheating. I of course think it perfectly ACCEPTABLE, but what gets me upset is that YOU all have somehow taken your personal convictions (players and admin) and tossed them out the window without EVEN an ACKNOWLEDGEMENT that your values have changed. Dont force me to go back over the last 8 months and quote you all........you wont like it. Trust me.
Another thing that upsets me is that I have not gotten one single thank you from anyone on this site. There is no appreciation for what I have managed to accomplish. Where is the gratitude? I have managed to basically start a revolution. I personally changed the way people think about using chess programs and implemented program usage on this site. Oh, I know you all will say that it is not cheating because it is allowed by the admin, but once again, if crushing your neighbor's skull with a cinder block suddenly became legal, how many of you are going to run out and commit murder? Well, it's not murder anymore, you are going to say...but there has to be some sort of personal convictions of what is right and what is wrong. I feel using chess programs to win is RIGHT...it is GOOD....it is acceptable....I have NOT ACCOMPLISHED that yet on this site....but CHESS.COM has. Hmmmmmmmmm.......Can you all see where I'm coming from?........Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.
ANALOGY TIME....this one'll be a stretch, but work with me on, ok? Let's say that I show up to some anti-violence rally where there are 1000 women marching about trying to make people aware of domestic violence/ battered wife syndrome, spousal abuse, etc. Let's say that I egg them on by heckling them. My heckling becomes too much and these 1000 fat women come running at me and kick the living crap out of me. Do I need to continue....? Hmmmmmmm? I suspect you all see where I have gone with this. I give you all credit.
Finally, please give me credit where credit is due. If the administrators of this site are just not man enough to give me the credit, at least acknowledge that using programs to win is now an acceptable thing on this site.
Cheater_1 - for starters why are the women at this rally fat? secondly please address this point - chess players of ALL levels have been using computer engines to improve their chess play since they have existed. All you have done is make a claim of being the best at using their analysis. Now you seem to make the claim that you have started a revolution of people using computer analysis to improve their chess play. You are clearly a deluded person.
I would like you to prove your first claim (being the best blah blah blah) by playing some of the players on this site one on one unrated no holds barred.
I can see the results of these games already. You accuse the person you are playing against of using an engine ... most likely rybka. You say if you wanted to just play against Rybka you would have, you were expecting more from your opponent. You WILL lose, and you will be shown to insignificant. You will also choose to take this loss as a victory as the community has been reduced to your level and even if they are better than you now, you started it. The world owes the current state of chess all to you because you are some sort of super genius that was the first person ever to figure out that "your" results at chess would improve if you used an engine to cheat.
I will post a reply stating that you lack logic or a firm grip on reality and you will choose not to respond to my post. And I will continue my quest of finding a cheater_1 quote funnier than (paraphrased) I am the great manipulator, I have a minor in pyschology and am playing you all for fools! MUAAHAHA (end paraphrase).
Solid gold really it is.
AHHHHHH. I feel good. Even though I lost, I have some victory. It seems that ERIK has finally WISENED up and took MY advice. It seems that he has SEEN THE LIGHT. I told you all that there was a HUGE benefit to man vs machine. And to think that all you DUNDERHEADS disbelived me. WHo's got the last laugh now?
What I am referring to is the 2 latest Vote chess games (started not too long ago) that were INSPIRED by ME..or at least inspired by our vote chess game. I can take 100% credit for those games even taking place. Oh, it seems EVERYONE...and I mean EVERYONE thought that a game like that should not take place. Chess programs DO NOT belong on this site. Chess.com should not take place in a game of that type. Well, it seems that the numbers DO NOT LIE.
Cheater_1 vs. Team chess.com was the SINGLE most popular vote chess game that this chess site EVER HAD. And that is an undisputed fact. We may never ever play another game chess.com, but at least I inspired you to OPEN up your eyes and see the benefit of this.
I have foresight. It's a gift. Listen to what I say, I know what I'm talking about. Man vs machine games and chess.com vs other opponents will be the single most popular events on this chess website. Create dozens and dozens of them. Give another guy a shot to take on chess.com. One vs 1000s is what the people want. And I suspect that 99% people dont see that Yet. But that is to be expected, seeing my intelligence Quotient is much higher than 99% people here. Give it time, people. You will finally get it. It will one day sink in and you will say, "cheater_1 was right. By god, he was right."
