I remember having the best math scores in our high school. I thought I was so smart. Then I went to college and found out what hard work was like, and found out what geniuses were like. I was nothing special. Who cares about winning a championship against 10 year olds a decade ago?

your making it seem like I beat 10 year old right now. I was 10 years old beating other 10 years old at the highest scholastic tournament the US has to offer after making the all-american team. I did not mean to brag about that, but another poster was saying I was just some random scrub when in fact I have accomplished alot during my prime years where I actually practiced. Yet, people here claim to practice alot but cannot break the 1300 barrier

The only motive I can see for posting this thread is to provoke and insult other members. If, as has been asserted previously, the poster is 1100 in correspondence chess, perhaps he might consider moving from his glass house before throwing any more stones.

"seriously makes me wonder how any chess player could legit be under 1300 rating unless they are a young child.

if you have played chess longer than 3 months, you should at least be a 1300. I was already a 1400 when I was about 6 or 7 years old, and I see some players here in chess.com barely struggling to reach 1300.

are some people just naturally good at chess with high IQ? do you guys practice effeciently? what is stoping you from being a 1300 and higher?"

The bold phrase made it clear that you dont speak about ppl who play just for fun...

if you ask 10 ppl (which they are trying, studying ,playing chess very often, giving effort) why they cant pass the 1300 barrier you ll take 10 different answers

I am pretty sure that they can be smarter than you in other aspects of life

Dont bother finding an answer, play your game and leave them do what they wanna do

There's something to be said for both practice and talent. No matter how much power lifting and Krav Maga lessons one takes (even becomming an expert at it) you aren't going to win against an 800 pound gorilla in a fight, and they sit around eating fruit all day. You will however be able to beat up nearly any human.

Sure chess study will never make you better than Kasparov (the gorilla in our case) but anyone who's read My System seriously all the way through could already beat most people.

And... save the gorillas ^_^
