Chess players are divided by their grades but united by their inability to pick up girls in bars.
Tell that to the Carlsen boy
They pick him up. A professional footballer (soccer player) was saying on the radio that didn't try and pull . All they had to do was walk into the bar.
My tip for the rest of us in a bar scenario would be to not mention you are a chess player. Watch for meaningful eye contact and then speak any old load of rubbish to them - they'll be glad of the attention.
people that try to score doesn't - they are too desperate and make them appear foolish.
if you are confident and do not try to score. - you will.
if you try to score you plan all sorts of strategy.
if you don't try - you are just you.
Absolutely...
and stay sober as well
also...if you don't say something straight away, don't say it at all....
Confidence comes through being successful. As such it's an indication of power - and power is what everyone wants.

I remember having the best math scores in our high school. I thought I was so smart. Then I went to college and found out what hard work was like, and found out what geniuses were like. I was nothing special. Who cares about winning a championship against 10 year olds a decade ago?
