My otb rating goes backward

3 years ago, I earned my first otb rating (uscf) which was 1798, after 24 gams now I am 1687. Since first rating, the rating never go up, but only down. This makes me sad. It is true I dont really study chess but I sometimes play and study tactics too.

So you got lucky with your first games, now your rating is getting in line with your true skill level. It happens, no reason to get upset over it.

otb is the toughest form of chess , you aint alone in seeing a dip in your grade ,look at your recent losses get others in your chess club to go over the games , be prepared for critical analysis , and gain from it , hoping you have a great year in chess kun-fu

I'd say 24 games aren't much of a sample, so don't sweat it.  More importantly though, you would benefit a lot from studying some opening lines in depth.
