My parents think i have a chess addiction and want me to quit chess, is that true?

I've recently been playing alot of chess and my parents hate it, my parents said that I have to quit chess or else I'm grounded with everything. my parents say this because I play lots of chess and they say chess is taking over me. true it is but in a good way, I love chess and don't know what to do! how do I convince my parents to let me play chess? any advice would help. and i also play 4 hours of chess on school days and 5-6 hours of chess on the weekends
