My problem with knights and bishops

This is my first post on this amazing place. :) This place has really helped me to improve my chess. But this post is for the opposite, to tell you where I usually fail on chess matchs.

And please excuse me if my english is trash, I'm not english or american xP.

The opponent's bishops and knights. When I'm with advantage of pieces (for example, a rook) the opponent always gets my rook or even sometimes my queen... With his bishop or knight. For me, it's incredibly hard to notice if where I'm moving one of my valuable pieces it is going to be eaten by a knight or bishop.

I was playing with Medium difficulty against the computer. Won the third the match. The other two, I was winning for a moment and then, he ate one of my pieces when I made a mistake.

Do you think there can be anyway I prevent myself before moving a valuable piece? Maybe it's because I'm confident and I do not think too much my moves? Or should I try to kill the opponent's bishops and knights at the very beginning of the match?

Thanks for the help!

Think before you move. Simple. Most lower level players like myself always want to go after valuable but the idea is the kill of the KING. Usually if they using a knight and bishop only then their not developed enough so there time and space for you to seize ... Slow down... !!Bishops stay in the same color the entire game. !!Knight switch colors each move.

This site also has good pointers on "tactics" like forks, pins and skewers that bishops and knights are good for that might address your query. http://www.chess.com/article/view/chess-tactics--definitions-and-examples

I've found the "Study Plans" to be helpful. http://www.chess.com/article/view/study-plan-for-beginners-tactics2

Also, even with a free membership, you can use the "Tactics Trainer" at least for a few times per day, I believe.

Good luck!

About those two moves, I always try to make scholars mate; and it works with people of low level, and I already know how to avoid it, but didn't know about the fried liver, so thanks!

Yeah, I also always get in trouble with forks, but I'm very good pinning (I think). Thanks for all the links! I'll read them right now.

And I would but a membership, because I'm sure that would improve my chess of an incredible way; but sadly I have no money to spend xP.

Thanks you too! This community seems to be very friendly.

Well, scholars mate isn't quite so good. Its only for beginners, and you can get troubles playing scholars mate if your opponent knows how to defend it,But Fried Liver attack is good,I play it myself
