I haven't read The Amateur's Mind, but I did read How To Reassess Your Chess, and it's one of my favorite books. I also usually really like Silman's articles.

I bought My System and started reading it, but the language seems a bit funny and the book was very hard for me to get into. I haven't picked it up in awhile. Maybe I'll read it eventually; I don't know. An FM told me he thinks it is over rated.

So for me I think the choice would be certainly be Silman's book, but you might have different tastes.
