Hi all,

I am playing a fide tournament and have noticed that in the classification table, there is a column called "flag" that contains the letter "w" for female players. Three players have the letter "i" including a female player with "wi".

Does anybody know what the letter "i" means?  apparently fide has put the letter, not the organizers of the tournament.

If you're attending an OTB event, the pairing software may include that. It's possible it's related to titles but without a specific example, it's hard to say.

“in between” it’s what we use to denote any non-binary competitor in women’s events.

It has nothing to do with diplomas or gender. Our closest guess is "inactive", but does not make sense either.

Nope, the players with the "i" have less than 1700 rating and no title.
