Of course, a capacity for productive hard work is a talent. A lot of people are obsessive without being very productive.
Talent is out of your control. You can only choose how hard you work. To be the best player of a generation it's obvious you require both top talent and top work ethic.

and then there are players that get by hardwork
kasparov and fischer got by hardwork, would you say they were talanted
any of us could be the next bobby fischer if we just obsessed over chess like he did
