hey guys, I’m around 1500 Elo right now(otb), and it feels like my playstyle has hit a ceiling. I know some theory and have a decent understanding of tactics and strategy, but I don’t feel like my games are actually improving anymore. It’s not just that I’m stuck at this rating I feel like my overall gameplay isn't improving although I play regularly, both online and otb, in blitz and rapid formats. Any tips or advice?

Stop chasing openings. Start mastering chess principles. I’ve seen players improve faster this way. Reach out anytime if you want guidance on what actually matters in chess.

I am currently struggling with this is as well. The main thing of my coaches recommend is is focus only on calculation and nothing else so pretty much all I do is spam puzzles and focus on calculating. If anything I hate calculating more than anything but something I would probably make you an extremely strong player if I recall correctly t hikaeu said that say that you can probably have amazing calculation skills up to 2200

If you really want to approve you will likely need to get a chest booking and have to work through it. That is likely where you will do most of your reading approvement problem is going through chess books and chessable courses

You are overlooking checks an captures, which is the most important thing. Until you do something about that, you should not play blitz or even bullet.

My advice is to tailor your openings to middlegame plans you understand. I can help, if you want.

To be frank with you I would ignore these guys advice . Most of these players giving you advice or not actually going to do the work and work on actual calculation because it is quite an unpleasant activity to go through a chest book. All these things are recommending will likely not yield you that much elo. If you want to go for 1500 is 2,000 rapid for example you need to work on calculation. Calculation is literally how all Indian players come Grand Masters they have insanely good calculating abilities and then everything after that gives you be like a five to 10% improvement. I've studied any games I've gone over to Daniel's courses I've studied mastery games and none of it has really carried over into becoming a stronger player other than calculating and improving My overall pattern recognition along with positional play there for I think I'm likely know the best method. I have two coaches a grandmaster and international Master and they are far stronger than both of these players. Calculation will always make you stronger

i'm not gonna help if you're gonna lie about your OTB rating. 1100 cc and 1500 otb? lol

i just made this account bro and ive been playing otb for years

You have 700 games that's enough to get an established rating

Notice how there's a real 1500 OTB player above you who's 2000 on cc

In fairness to OP (kinda) I wouldn’t judge his rating by my disparity - I haven’t played much OTB classical and much of it was 2+ years ago so it’s definitely a much lower rating than I probably should have! My fide blitz is nearly 1700, so 1500ecf is not likely an accurate reflection.

that said, 1100 on cc would likely get demolished at most tournaments otb, so a 1500 rating is still unlikely.

Chess is pattern recognisation. Just like smether mate, people saw queen diagonal support knight that can deliver check to draw up hidding king and then double check with queen and knight . On the board, there are only four square we need to remember for knight to jump and deliver check namely c7, f7, c2, f2 and king need to be in 4 correspondent square a1,a8,h1,h8 . The other thing is to make sure opponent no queen on backrank. Once the pattern is implanted into the memory next time it is easy for you to create that pattern. Another simple pattern is ladder mate with rook or queen, is the same theories.
