Need info about Chess tournament Pairing Softwares!

I used Swiss Perfect the first time I ran a tournament, and it seemed to have nice features. I've been using SwissSys since to run many tournaments with 60-140 players. SwissSys sometimes burps, but never fails.
Yesterday, after importing a file from the registration program (this program is part of the rating system used in scholastic tournaments in the Pacific Northwest--not USCF events, and consequently generally larger than scholastic events in the rest of the U.S.), corruption of file rendered it impossible to proceed. A major disaster at the beginning of a day-long tournament with youth ages 5-18, and their parents could have made for a very bad day. Setting up the tournament anew from the beginning in SwissSys took about eight minutes. Round one started at 10:20 am (5-10 minutes later than normal).
BTW, calling SwissSys "an older program" confuses me, as SwissSys 8 came out about a year ago, and has been updated since then. I ran the event on a new computer with Windows 7 (the "burp" was probably a Microsoft bug as these are more common than house flies with each new version of their OS).
I did not run the software in the largest tournament I've run, but had four others with three computers doing the pairings. The event had 1062 players in seven large Swiss sections and twelve small round robins. SwissSys 8 facilitated team scoring across multiple sections.
Thank you all very much :). I got an older swissperfect98 which seems good enough. Below link might be useful for chess utilities.

Thanks and Cheers,

Swiss Perfect is supposed to be the best I think, and I believe you can use some version of Vega for free. Chessbase can generate Swiss crosstables, but not pairs. Playing programs such as Fritz or Shredder do not have swiss pairing features as far I know.
Hi All,
Bumping my own thread after 3 years :).
I would like to know if there are any free chess pairing softwares to do team events (like say in olympiad where each team plays on 4 boards against other teams). With swissperfect I am able to do swiss/round robin tourneys only for individuals but no option for teams.
Any info would be very helpful.
Thanks and Cheers,
Arun

I wrote some sofware to manage kids' tournaments. It does not handle teams. The documentation: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1j1z1v_y_h2MuRAe6xnpYu7rQA3t3loGe6qrJ3qVKtPE/edit#heading=h.6egw8el5xmiz
The sofware can be found at https://sites.google.com/site/fredm/. It is free, runs under windows. I have been using it for about 3 years, so the bugs are out.

Hi Arun,
I was looking for a good chess tournament manager for a long time, until I discovered https://www.swips.eu. I would highly recommend, everything is simple and easy.

Now there is an alternate one to Swips, https://chesstour.ca, maybe a better alternative, since I wrote it and it's free! 30 also real tournaments (excluding the test ones) have been organized and completed since Mar 2020. Try it out! Drop me a message if you have questions.

Hi, if you are looking for an easy-to-use, FIDE-approved online platform, take a look at ChessManager. Here's the video how to create a chess tournament in 2 minutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBl4-L8xsSc

Hello guys!
I've been using online chess tournament software called Swips and it is perfect! You can try a smaller tournament for 20 players for free with basic features. If you would like to create a larger tournament with 60 players, I recommend buying a PREMIUM package where you have more options. If you want to have an unlimited number of players and all the options, I highly recommend the INTERNATIONAL package for 10 euros per month.
If you have any problem with creation a tournament, customer suport will write to you very quickly. Even if you are a beginner like me, Swips will definitely help you to organize chess tournaments.
I also like their motto: It's not about winning or losing. It’s about passion.
For more information you can check their website: https://www.swips.eu

Another online free chess tournament pairing program is Tornelo. https://tornelo.com/ Tornelo is FIDE approved.

Our chess club (mediachessclub.com) uses Chess Nut it is free and supports the USCF (our last 3 tournament uploads all used it) and casual matches. We've just started using it to post public tournaments and allowing people to sign up for them in advance
Hi friends,
Can someone tell me are there any free chess tournament pairing softwares (swiss tournaments). I also wanted to know if any of the Fritz/Rybka/Shredder etc. programs have this feature in them?
Any comments/suggestions would be very helpful.
Thanks and Cheers
