Nepal and chess

If you take a break from chess, then you know how hard times the people of Nepal are having and dealing with the massive earthquake they had. I really feel sorry for them, and it made me think of a couple years back when we had the contest for young chess players, to write a short essay, " why I would like to have a diamond membership". Remember that?

One of the participants was this young person from Nepal, and he wrote one of the best responses, but got disqualifed because he was a few months over the age limit. Well he ended up with a diamond membership, I made sure of that, and he was so grateful. I just worry that he is ok? He won many awards for his school chess team, and started teaching chess to younger players, a real super star person!!

If it is any consolation, the first 20 pages of members from Nepal have all been online since yesterday.
