Netflix movie "Dismissed"

Has anyone seen "Dismissed".

It is always so laughable in movies when they try to portray chess-players engaging in a game. In one scene in this film one player checks another and in just the next move the other player checkmates the first one.

I guess it can happen on the board if you're totally blind but it's hardly common happy.png

i havent seen it but ive seen many depictions of chess at the movies including searching for bobby fischer, the luzhin defence, life of a king, knights of the south bronx, pawn sacrifice and i have a cherised dvd called the grass arena from a 1990s bbc series on the life of a chess dropout. most scenes of these seem accurate.

I have seen some scenes where one player will move a piece and announce “Checkmate” and the opposing player is totally surprised!

Another funny thing about that movie is that this scenario where one player checks the other and then later gets checkmated in the next move supposedly this happened between the two highest seeded players in school! I haven't finnished watching the movie yet but I'm sure there will come up more silly scenes like this.

How hard must these players suck if the second best one makes a mistake like that. He looks so proud when he checks him lol

It's an ok movie otherwise, can't wait to finnish it.
