The chess boards made in Poland by Wegiel are really nice. I bought a $50 folding wooden board (with pieces) on Amazon. It's squares are 2.25. The board is of very good quality. The pieces are just ok, but not bad. If you get one of their non folding boards then it will be even better since you will avoid having a little bump in the center where the two halves connect. For a folding board you cannot go better than that for $50. Just remember , I am referring to the board that is with 2.25 squares, not one of their smaller sets. Some people don't like those.

I want to buy a wooden chessboard with wooden chess pieces that is economic but also effective, that has a comfortable size (maybe for tournament, idk) and something like 5cm of edge between the cases and the end of the chessboard. It has not to be beautiful, just with simple shapes, it's just a start for an appassionate beginner.
