This is the first time I’ve seen somebody say they made a gambit and it somewhat be a gambit.

The issue is that most of the lines this leads to end up with g6 being played for nothing, just a kingside weakness. Since after a line like 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 g6 3.Nxe5 Bg7 4.d4, the best option here is to play 4…Bxe5 5.dxe5 Nc6 and after 6.Nc3 the material equality has been re-achieved but white has a pawn in the center and g6 has been a wasted move, only creating downsides. (Although f5 is slightly interesting to consider)

In the positions with 5.Nc3 you’ll likely end up in a Scandinavian position but you gave away the e-pawn so that you get to play g6 and Bg7 faster. That’s it. Not worth in my opinion.

The point of any gambit is to give you some kind of compensation for material. Here black and white have one piece out each, and white has a pawn on e4 that controls center and is helping light sqared bishop develop. Basically black doesn't have anything for the pawn.

For a central pawn, definitely not for free. After 3 moves black has played g6 and white has a pawn in the center, plus both have 1 piece out. Pointless sacrifice of a pawn in my opinion.

Everybody should be able to click on magnifying glass icon under the board and see engine evaluation. If there is any compensation for the pawn, evaluation must be under 1. Actual evaluation is 1,43 so every sane chess played should realize that this position is garbage.
To be fair, the guy didn't say that the gambit is good (or even decent). There are many gambits out there that are extremely bad.
