New Goal For Chess.com

I have a new goal here on chess.com

I want to align all of my ratings to 1600+ because I feel it is my true strength...

Do you think this is possible?

My online rating is low because I withdrew from lots of tournaments.

My blitz rating is low because I take my time during the games..

My bullet rating is low because I make so many mistakes..

Any suggestions to bring my bullet and or blitz rating up?

Thanks,

Suvel

For how long do you play Chess already, Suvel?

Suvel

do you mean how many years have I been playing chess or how much do I play in a day?

Suvel

I've been playing for  about 7 years, but I started going to tournaments 2 years ago.

My USCF is 1414..

Suvel, I would not worry too much about my rating or set any particular number as my goal. Over time with numerous games played, it will simply reflect your real chess ability.

I would ask myself what I want to achieve in chess: Do I want to be good in standard time chess, or maybe tournament chess time-control formats, or blitz or online (turn-based)... I think it is probably difficult to focus on everything at the same time. I personally believe in what coach Dan Heisman (among others) says in that long, slow live chess games will raise your level of understanding the most. Once more proficiency is achieved in that way, one can start to play blitz/rapid games in order to develop certain aspects of the game (openings for example).

It really comes down to what you want from chess. Abover everything, you should have fun playing and developing/studying your game. The rating is just the result of your efforts.

I decided for myself that I play unrated games for training and study, and play rated games in tournaments.

Suvel

yea, lol i know that, but I just want my ratings to be the same, just to see if it's possible... I really dont care

TMHgn

I think it is definitely possible.

I think for blitz and bullet you need a lot of experience in the sense that it is probably helpful if you have seen a lot of positions and can base your next move on having a big knowledge "database" because you have seen it/done that before, rather than think and calculate a great deal because there is no time for that.

Suvel

ok thx for the advice tom

Sorry about the late reply, have been busy ...

Yeah, I was just wondering. Now your goals don't sound as lofty as I presumed. But how you can accomplish them? I don't really know, make better moves than your opponent perhaps? Smile

I'm in no place to give you any serious advice, seeing that I can't catch up with you rating-wise.

Suvel

lol thx big-decline

For the others you should improve your chess skills by studying chess not by just playing
