New Horrifying Development in WCC!

Game 6 of the World Chess Championship just started with a terrible surprise. Ding Liren decided to play the London System with white, prompting myself and over 10,000 viewers to immediately leave the stream. We are planning to write a letter to FIDE to ask for regulatory measures to prevent a disgrace such as this from occurring ever again. What are your thoughts on this catastrophic travesty?
chickenxray
could you explain to me why this is such a travesty?

We cannot sit back and relax as this disgrace carries on. There must be consequences. Is anyone in favor of sentencing Ding [not appropriate -- MS]? This is completely unacceptable behavior. We need to make an example of him.

You sound like an immature troll. Also jokes about hanging people will probably result in some disciplinary action from chess.com

Good! Maybe today's stream won't keep dropping out like it did yesterday! ;-)

Just think - If Ding wins the game, everyone will start playing the London!

What is it about the London system that provokes such derision?

UpcommingGM

If he played the London at the world championship, you should know the London opening is not a bad opening. It is in fact a good opening if a super GM can consider it in a high stake match.

Ohh, Ding is completely winning. What a disaster evil

Lol he’s +4 with the London. Simply insane

The saddest part of this WCC in terms of coverage and commentary on chess.com is that we have so many decisive games, and a mate in 10-11 moves seen by Ding, and yet there's barely a peep on the forums, just more inane threads about nothing...AMAs, trolling threads, etc.

SoupSailor
That mating net was spectacular… etiquette aside, Nepo should have let him put the mate on the board.

I was watching and really surprised folks are amazed by Ding's London system. He played for 4. h3 before so not sure what's surprising about this.

If Ding lost this game, I think his choice is still fine. I don't get what the distaste is against the London in WCC. Can someone explain?

Aaaand the game turned out to be very exciting. Who'd have thunk it?

Not only that but Gata Kamsky was a big believer in the London and everybody knows he would've been world champion if he hadn't quit for 8 years.
