New iPad app design

Great work on the iPhone app. Lots of fun. I think usability is improved, poeple just have get used to it. 

Love the checkmarks when a video has been watched, would be great if that would work accross platforms. Sometimes it's hard to find live session I havent seen :D

If you implement the whole positions library for the play against computer section, that'll be awesome. 

Enjoying lectures on the sub is what I was waiting for. Thx for all the improvements :D

Hey staff, Can you add this to your future bucket list of updates for the apple chess app?

-Chess clock button so there won't be a need to download another chess clock app

-Forums button so you can browse the forums

-Messages button to browse your chess.com messages

-Group button to check latest group activity.

-Tournament button could be good too.

-The option to pick which top game to watch would be nice, currently all you can watch is the current top game.

A option to download articles and lessons for offline use would be great too!

Hope these things would come soon!

The new interface is horrid, really really bad. Looks pretty but lacks basic functionality that we used to know and love. Let us get back to the old... PLEASE. Distracting design, tactics don't work anymore. Did you test any of this guys? Please hurry up and allow us to upgrade back to the old one. Long time diamond member and ready to give up on chess.com overnight!

I'm not saying that you're wrong but couldn't you at least list out what did you miss from the old app or what features that they removed?

Hey chess.com. How do we get tactics to work???? Where are all the controls. When you fiddle with something that isn't broken please don't force your paying users to do your testing!

How do we upgrade back to the one that worked?

I very much dislike the new graphics.  The black pieces look like blobs. I use the Tactics Trainer every day for 25 items, and now I can't think.

It's like playing chess with a fancy non-standard chess set designed by someone who is an interior decorator and never plays chess.

Why would you do something like this?  How can I get the old beautiful graphics back?

I feel like everyone is on something else than me.

There is nothing progressive about removing really useful features. Tactics seems to have ground to a halt with no way to progress to the next tactic, no forward or back arrows to examine the tactic, no analysis board. Am I missing something?

This probably isn't a very helpful comment but I find the tactics system better than it used to be and just as easy to move, go onto the next tactic or analyse

Go into settings and choose a different theme? Or make a custom one.

Please let us know if fixing tactics trainer is on the fix list for this app ( aka great leap backward). Please put back in the controls. TT used to be a really fabulous method of learning in chess. Do we give up on the iPad? In the interim I'm just hopeful I don't accidentally push update on the iPhone chess.com app! Your upgrade looks very much like it has been designed by people really keen on appearances but without any affinity for the game itself. Hoping to hear from you and of course apart from this app chess.com is great!

Thanks for the feedback, guys! Just want to reiterate a few points from before, and if I'm missing you, please tell me.

The menu that shows all of the features in the app is accessed by hitting the button at upper left (with the three horizontal bars). From there, you can get to your Tactics, the Computer, Videos, and now a bunch of other stuff as well (Lessons, Articles, etc.) So Tactics hasn't gone anywhere. @warwickjones - how is Tactics broken?

And yes, Bubblegum is awesome, but not for everyone. :) SO, if you open the main menu (again, the button at top left) and go into Settings, you'll then see "Themes." Here, you can pick a preset, or tap Custom to mix and match any board, set and background you like. ALL of the boards and pieces from the old app are in there, so if you want to have Alpha pieces on a solid green board, you totally can! Choose the Dark background for minimum distraction!

While you're in Settings, shop around a little. Do you like having the daily puzzle, tactics, the daily Video and a Lesson in your list of games? You can turn all that stuff on or off from the "Daily Chess" setting menu. Want to use premoves? Turn them on in Live Chess settings.

But they definitely do need to sort out an easy way to access the main site or sections within the app for tourneys, forums, messages etc.

Also a way of doing conditional moves in online chess on the iPad would be excellent
