1. Play every game like your life depends on it! Whether you’re getting a quick game in before lunch, or trying to grind late at night, you should be trying your best and making sure every move counts.
2. If you lose a game or two , check back on those games and see what you did wrong, after every game whether I do good or bad, I analyze and make sure I didn’t miss any tactics, and if I did, so I can improve on it the next time, Furthermore , when I was at 1100 I started tilting so took a complete break from rated rapid for a month, and switched to puzzles and unrated games. However surprising it is, it worked!
3. Before every move , check to make sure it isn’t a blunder. This is the difference between a 1000 and a 1500, simply applying this rule you can dramatically increase your rating. Make sure to check every possibility that your opponent can play. Leading off of this, play the board not the player, make the best move whatever your opponent plays , and keep chess as objective as possible.
