I moved the king in every position where it was a legal move. In positions where the king couldn't move, I moved the pawn closest to the king.
I got:

Anyway, when I took this a year ago, my impression was it was poorly conceived. Many answers involve a capture or threat. Under time constraints most people will guess a capture or threat when they have no idea for a good move, so I think this is a poor format.
And whatever mix you choose of time and forcing moves, if you're going to test chess ability, then one move solutions are inadequate IMO.
Based on your move choices, our estimate of your Elo rating is 1927, with a 95% confidence interval of[1802...2052]. is what I got from the first link for the chess test. http://www.elometer.net/
i can't understand how your ELO is around 1900 when you have only a 52% pass and a rating of 1390 in your Chess.com Tactics puzzles? Explain please?
For one thing I thought my tactics rating was higher.. I will have to check that. according to chess mentor my rating is better than 1390 at least. but.. I am just getting back to playing again.. and not playing as much as trying to learn stuff and get my critical thinking back. I just wanted an honest aprasal and a measurable way to see if I am making progress after a decent amount of time. If it turns out that at 46 years old I cant think straight then.. screw chess.. let you yougsters play.. but if I can play better then I have a friend who's but is guna get kicked. lol
The second one gave me 1935 but my USCF rating is about 1830. Since I'm on an upward trend, it's not that far off.
oh yeah.. I doupt that my real rating would be 1900 or even 1800.. I took my time thinking about every move in the rating test.. in real games of blitz there is never that much time. In tactics there is also never that much time.
I mean, based on your previous ratings, good luck to you if you can get to that ELO rating for real..?!!
Thanks man. I am going to see how well I can get thinking.. I use to play at least 30 games a day and most were on a real board. I just got a membership and am watching some Utube videos.. I got chessmaster 10 and am also working with that stuff. Actually.. if this goes well enough i do intend to get a real rating. I looked up some tournaments in the pacific northwest. When I am feeling ready I will go give it a shot.I would guess that would be at least a year.
I scored 1949 on the elometor. To be honest I think I may have scored higher if I didn't get a little bored. So many questions. I started flying through the second have just to finish. It was pretty cool to do though. Not sure of the accuracy. Usually a 1949 player would beat me convincingly. I have more chess knowledge than I got skills lol
Based on your move choices, our estimate of your Elo rating is 2835, with a 95% confidence
......call Magnus right away, i am throwing down the gauntlet
Hahaha this is a joke. I am awful at blitz, I left at least a quarter of the questions unanswered because I couldn't get it in the last second. it gave me 1761 with 95% chance of at least 1560. If I wasn't so awful at blitz it would easily peg me as expert.
...look at my games...
My guess is I am really good tactics puzzles, so I find the best move in tricky positions much more than my rating suggests. But I blunder too often to get above the 1400 range.
Maybe this suggests I should try to complicate the position when I play chess.
Or does it suggest I should keep it simple to minimize blundering?
I am not sure.
