Silman does have over a dozen courses on Chess Mentor although I can't seem to currently find his 300 lesson "Roots of Positional Understanding". Maybe he's reworking it? Anyway the Chess Mentor is a wonderfully efficient way to increase your chess knowledge. Some of the earlier course didn't always live up to the promise of "mentoring" you (No, that's not correct isn't much help), but most of the newer courses do a great job of explaining why your wrong answer won't work. Highly recommended. The videos are generally of higher quality than you'll find on youtube and IM Danny Rensch's Live Session Videos pretty much define edutainment but the Chess Mentor is the real reason to go diamond. GM Patrick Wolff has a dozen or so courses on tactical motifs that if mastered would certainly bump your skill. You do need toreview the courses however in the same way that you don't just open a textbook and read it once. I'd rather not admit how many times I've gone over some of the courses (Why can't I remember this? Because you're old and stupid. Oh, right...). I do beieve that the CM is probably the most efficient way to get better at chess unless you can afford a private coach. Another 2 cents from the bottomless jar of pennies... Oh and welcome to the site!
EDIT: It's still there; I just need some sleep.

Hi i'm new to Chess.com and was curious what paid members or previously paid members thought about the training software that is included with the membership. It looks interesting and i'm curious, but i'm not sure. There are several other programs you can get that can help you improve your' game, but for the money it seems fairly reasonable if they're worthwhile. Any thoughts or suggestions? I have also been looking at a GM training program that i'm very interested in, but if the programs on chess.com are really done by Jeremy Silman i'd be very interested to try them. I appreciate any feedback thanks.
