New to site, playing 2000 elo computer

I'm new to this site and have always had anxiety with playing against other humans. I have this with chess, and with video games such as starcraft. It's the psychological implications of a 1v1 that make me so anxious. That's why I simply (since I'm new to here) decide to only play the computer.

Anyway, does anyone think that the 2k elo computer is hard? It's a computer afterall and won't play like a human will. I'd say its quite a few hundred elo below a human 2k, right? (If it's even directly comparable). How would I fare against other players?

I haven't played chess really in 4 years. (I was in grade 8~9.) I won a gold medal for a little school tournament thing but it probably doesn't mean anything.

I joined this site a week ago or so and started practicing against the computer and lost a bunch of times to the 1.2k computer. And now I'm somehow able to beat the 2k. (first time)

Yeah, thank you.

Yes, you are now an incomparable genius!  Say, I'll bet that's exactly what you wanted us to say... Wink

I'm actually just curious and very anxious. I want to know if I'm ready to start playing other players. I haven't played someone else in 4 years. :/ Sorry if I came off as pertentious or something.

You're always ready to play other players. Smile You won't learn nearly as much if you keep on playing silicon.

I'd say it's impressive. Just play some other people, what is there to lose?

Hard to tell from 1 game.  Play people :)

MrAudacity

Alright, I'm gona give it a go. Here goes nothing.

Bf4 seemed very much to the point.  If I were playing fast I'd just take the knight and then on f7, but you gave it some thought (or just knew it was good heh).  And seems you knew enough in the beginning to not be afraid to trade a pawn or two for development.

But like always, there are lots of people worse than you, and lots of people better.  Just play people, it's more fun, and internet is anonymous and ratings don't count for anything, so try not to let it bother you :)

15 Bd2 looks pretty frightening for Black as well.

Did you really need to ask for permission to play against people? You need a psychologists in this case. Otherwise you are just showing off

That's true Andy.  I guess white actually has a lot of good moves there (better than taking the worthless knight).

No way that is on expert I call BS. The moves the computer were making are no where near the level of the moves it plays on expert.

Interesting. This is the 2000+ level computer but those moves it were making are by far not the best ones it comes up with. After copying your moves against the computer and replaying them multiple times, the computer eventually made the moves it did in the game against you which enabled me to beat it. Perhaps this is a bug, but for you to beat it first time like this is very lucky - as it made none of the same moves in response to me copying your moves.

Perhaps it has been reprogrammed since then.
