no move allowed

Hi all,

In my current game I have one move allowed to get out of check. But instead of that I could move one of the castles to checkmate the opponent's king. Unfortunately I am not allowed to do that. The only move is to move my king away from the other guy's queen. Has anyone experienced anything like this? What can I do about it?

thanks for your answers,

If you are in check, you must save your king by blocking or capturing the attacking piece or moving the king to a safe space.  It does not matter if you can checkmate on the next move.

He would take your king before you could take his king if this was permitted.

not exactly. he will get my king in his next move. now the king is only in danger. If I could move my castle not in order to defend my king but attack his I would checkmate him before he gets my king. on physical board with a friend I could do that.

Checkmate is tantamount to an unavoidable threat to capture the opponent's king. Therefore, it is in effect one move before capturing the king, but that move is never made. So if your king is threatened and you could move to a checkmating position (which is not even allowed), you would lose your king before you could "consummate" your checkmate, so to say.

If this is not clear to you, I suggest you read through the rules of chess until you understand.
