Non-chess quotes that could be applied to chess

Hi everyone,

It is curious how some famous quotes regarding a given subject can express core features of chess. I know two of those:

1) it's easy to play any musical instrument: all you have to do is touch the right key at the right time and the instrument will play itself.

- Johan Sebastian Bach

Well, enough said. Chess players are always trying to do just that: make the right move at the right time.

2) It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data.

- Sherlock Holmes

This can be applied mainly to beginers, right? A few seconds after they see a diagram they make a hasty "gut-feeling" move, without gathering information about the given position.

Do you know another?

Regards,

Arnaldo
