That is very possible, and is cheating (known as "sandbagging").

I think nobody that doesn't know too much chess would resign 14 times at the same move, and suddenly after studying, win 6 matches in a row.
"...his first 14 games he resigned by move 11."
I can't begin to process this. Makes no sense. Especially since beginner chess players tend to be stubborn about resigning unless checkmated.

If youre that immature, i can see why youre whining about an online tournament.
Liveink, I have no idea why you decided to be rude to Harvey. It really reflects poorly on you, to insult people who comment on threads that you start.
I didn't see Manuel's 14 resignations on move 11, but I did see a couple on move 11. This often happens if a player (especially a relatively new player) starts a tournament that fires off multiple games at the same time, logs in once a day (or three) to make his moves, and then winds up going away for the weekend (or otherwise forgetting to log in) and accidentally times out out on all of his games. If the games started at the same time, and he makes one move per day, he'll wind up "resigning" a bunch of games at the same time, on the same move. (Yes, it lists that as resignation, rather than timing out, when it's an online game, and not a live game.)

Hey, maximus "butt nugget"...I didn't question that this happened. Learn to comprehend. I questioned the validity. You just earned yourself a quad:
So this is odd. I'm playing in this tournament and the player in my group with the most wins has gone 6 games straight but what I find odd is that he has played 20 games and his first 14 games he resigned by move 11. Is it possible that he made a new account and lost enough games to be <1000 just to dominate? I found this out because I go into my opponents finished games to check out their style.
