There should be a word for sarcasm that mocks both another comment and itself simultaneously.

you should find out where he lives and go take care of that.

Well, truth be known, before I posted this thread I confronted this fellow on one of his own forum threads and he responded with a snide comment.  That, I felt, was very unsportsmanlike.

When I use my iPad to play, I do not see chat.

**Update**  The fellow about whom we are talking just a few minutes ago resigned both "on line" games against me.  Interesting.

or maybe he's tired of your nagging.

nothing interesting 'bout that.

ChessboardAbs

Somebody already said it, but it's true. People don't always look at the chat window. I often times use the android app for example.

Also, I think rude would be overturning the table and punching somebody in the temple. He didn't say hi. Get over it.

SnatchPato

He clearly just wanted to play chess. What's rude is you continually badgering him while he is trying to play. Can you imagine if you had an opponent sitting across from you going "Hello? Hello? How are you? Good luck? etc" while you're clearly trying to play?

You're the rude one here mate.

Check out, if he has 2635 games in progress. Then he definitely doesn't have time to respond to everyone: "Hi! I'm good, and you?" or "I play chess since I was 7," and so on.

I think the bigger offense he committed was sandbagging.

I use it, but at times I forget to check it.  I do my best to always reply to any comment in the chat.  But if someone does not want to chat that is okay with me.

I don't need to know the full story, the game speaks for itself. But I was only kidding.

I never initiate chat but always reply to someone else. But I don't play live games; if I did, I probably wouldn't. Usually my chatty opponent loses his enthusiasm for conversing due to my boring replies

Pufferfish123

Maybe the guy just didn't want to have a chat, or wasn't looking at the chat box. I'm sure he probably didn't mean any offense.

On the other hand, if he did mean offense and did post a snide comment, just ignore it there are plenty other people out there who are friendly and nice. Just talk to them instead of this guy.

It's your call.
