I've heard you don't need to play well, you need the opponent to play badly.
I've also heard that it's all about taking hanging pieces.

you are wrong. It's not taking hanging pieces, it's CHOMPING ON HANGING PIECES. and by the way, I agree, winning chess is all about chomping on hanging pieces.

Writing as genuinely confused as to how I’m winning such a high percentage of my games lately.
The last 20 games, I’ve got a 17-1-2 win rate, which is completely insane (one of the losses was against a retired NM, too, which was a cool experience)
The thing is, these games are (by and large) AWFUL according to the game review tab. I’ve analysed all of them, so feel free to see for yourself, but they’re almost all sub 80% accuracy, with multiple instances of me being completely lost, sometimes even with my opponent literally having forced mate.
It doesn’t make much sense to me as to why my rating and win rate is improving but my accuracy should be so shocking? The only thing I can think of is that I’m somehow playing more complicated games and getting the better of complex positions? But I’m not sure what I’ve changed in my play that’s caused this.
MY QUESTION TO YOU - Can you see anything in my recent games that explains what the hell is going on? What am I doing that’s allowing me to consistently fight back from completely rubbish positions, win in time scrambles, and all the rest?
I’ve had my chesscom account since 2021, and I don’t think there’s been a time where my win rate has been this high for a LONG time, and would love to work out how to reproduce it 😅
