If you want to play live chess on the server, you are essentially opening up a vast anonymous chess game pez dispenser, and there's really no other way to look at it. If you want games with discourse and etiquette, try joining a group. What you are doing is like wading into a mosh pit at a heavy metal concert and then getting irritated every time someone is bumping into you...the logic doesn't follow.
There are two benefits to these endless threads from whinos.
1) new metaphors from geniuses like btickler
2) opportunity to be called a jellyfish by Xplayer
Sometimes I accept rematches, sometimes I don't (I rarely ask for a rematch). It's not personal -- it usually just boils down to whether I have the time and energy to continue. People should not take these issues so personally when playing chess on the internet with complete strangers. I think that those who feel offended about not getting a rematch are too self-centered, and are basing too much of their self-esteem on this game.
The issue is quite simple. The things you see people complaining about, and how they act is due to the annonymity of the internet.
These are things you do not see at OTB tournaments, or at clubs. If someone acted at our club the way they do online, they would be asked not to come back.
OTB tournaments, players shake hands, say good luck, good game, etc. You get to a site like chess.com and beinig able to hide (yes hide) behind a monitor does something to people that makes them act like an A**
I made the decison that i dont want to be cussed at, insulted, spammed, harassed, etc. Im not here for that, and i feel sorry for those that need to act this way. After each game i leave a Good game on my opponents home page, and move on to the nest game.
