Of course you owe a rematch

There are two benefits to these endless threads from whinos.

1) new metaphors from geniuses like btickler

2) opportunity to be called a jellyfish by Xplayer

I would like to mention I did add a new flavor to this forum to keep it fresh.

Thegreat_patzer pick up on my new metaphor post #61.

Which was directed as the Lion from the Wizard Of Oz.

I do not believe I used that one on the last threads.

Each rematch forum has to be special!

To Finish the forum off in a very unique way.

You have to take the extra step.

You have to bring out a new JellyFish picture.

It is an aquatic animal.

Very sensitive creatures they are.

They do not accept rematches.

They go with the flow!

WHAT THE

DrSpudnik

Turds go with the flow too.

TheOldReb

Its the turds that dont go with the flow that create all the problems ... Surprised

TheOldReb

I sometimes wont give rematches due to very poor behavior from my opponents ... people with bad behavior get no rematch from me .

Diakonia

The reasons why i do not offer/accept rematches:

1. Not saying good luck, and or good game.

2. Disabling chat.

3. Being rude

cussing

insulting

constant chat during a game.

asking me if im a female.

4. Letting the clock run out instead of resigning.

5. Leaving rude message on my profile page.

6. Constantly clicking the draw button.

7. Accepting a game and then just sitting there.

8. Making excuses for a loss

you got lucky

my internet is bad

you cheated

youre sandbagging

9. Constantly sending a challenge after i decline a rematch.

10. Sending me youtube links to "prove" your conspiracy theory in the chat window.

11. Im not here to feed your ego.  Its a game, you win some, you lose some, you draw some.  Have fun with it, and learn from it.

12. Sandbagging/Chess engine use.

13 Sending constant friend requests/chat requests.  This isnt facebook, im not here to pad your friend stats.

13. My main Reason...I simply prefer playing different people.

Basically, if you cant act like a decent human being dont be surpised why you didnt get a rematch.

SonOfThunder2

I hate it when people do that to me.  3 (asking my gender).  6 especially when they're loosing. 8 big one.

Others to add,

14. Resign one move from loss.

15. Sit and look at your move instead of playing

16. Constantly bugging you with chat.

17. Always talking about aheem unapropriate things.

Just a few.

Diakonia

18. Moving so fast, trying to end with more time than when you started.

19. Start losing and instead of resigning, they start hanging pieces.

#1.  I usually Don't to be honest.  Not that I'm against it.  I think its great when someone starts with a pleasant "GL" in chat!

BUT, then there is reality.  thats a better chance he's not interested in small talk , and a fair chance he's a jerk.

not point to start a game with troll words.  as I've said before I'm playing against my tendency to blunder (more than anything)- polite human interaction is just an ... occasional suprise.

would you Really deny a rematch because the Opponent didn't start a game with "GG or GL?" thats rough IMHO.  I bet you don't play many rematches...

I dont do rematches unless the person has demonstrated common decency (which sadly is very rare here)  But as i said earlier, i dont do rematches simply because i enjoy playing different people.  So no, the good game/good luck thing isnt a deal breaker.

I like playing different players but also prefer having a group of players that I might compete against on a regular basis. I like the idea presented (either on this thread or the ten million others discussing rematches) that an option is offered for a series of games.

No one owes anyone a rematch. Sometimes, I crave a rematch if I lost in a particularly bitter way (like i'm ahead in material but lost on time), but if the other person is gracious, I can accept that bitter losses are also a fun part of competition. (One time, I lost a game and wanted a rematch and kindly texted the other person if he cared to go again and he said he had family committments and we offered each other a good night. That's the way it should always be.)

Why is that offensive? If you're in a mate situation or have no chance, playing it how would be more irritating. You don't get extra points for actually mating someone.

Damned if you, damned if you don't. Some people get annoyed if you wish them gl or gg. I saw some comment here finding it offensive by saying "gg" if you won, as if that's supposed to be insulting. Really scratching my head on that one.

thegreat_patzer

good attitude Antonio.  I would Love to have a group of friends that I play regularly "live"!

but... its not an easy thing to arrange.  I'm not very flexible about when I play. (one of the reasons I play online actually).

I tried to make the point ALL of yesterday, that a polite pm or message via chat was the way to people out to politely talk to their opponents about rematches.

Antonio, its the internet.  Annonymity is a poweful thing, as it allows people to act..well ummm..."different"

thegreat_patzer

there's a lot of Vague rule about ettiquette... which really means there IS practically no rules about ettiquette;

FWIW, (#14) Most of the time,I will resign if I see the opponent has unstoppable mate.  your opponent has Won the game.  why the delay?

if there's uncertainty that he sees it, I might play it out...

thegreat_patzer

the key is to ask if you've been as polite about things as you would like your opponent to be, and if you have...Good Enough

ebolakitty

There is another reason for not accepting rematches. When someone starts a game 1.h3 ... 2. a3... and then puts you through an entirely tedious and unenjoyable game. Even if you win can you expect a rematch to be more rewarding?

When I actually enjoy the game, I give rematches all the time, win or lose. But never if the first game stank. It just isn't worth it.
