Ah ok, didn't see that watched the vid till a bit before that, but even still he doesn't make a big fuss over it, the main points they're making is about it's effect on chess, and on the players competing mainly.
I don't mind faster time controls. Over 2 hours for each side in total is plenty IMO.
Chess at the top human level is no longer the cutting edge science of the game. We have engine matches and centaur matches for that. Chess at the top level today is more like sport. It's a performance, and performances often have errors.
I'm also fine with 960 but with the limitations I describe (select 10 or 20 good positions from the 960 and set them as that year's positions).
Nice rule (especially considering game 12) would be getting rid of handshake draws before time control at 40 moves. After today I'm a Fabi supporter on Wednesday.
