You do not understand. People want chess players to go to a city full of mosquitoes and with horrible traffic. Also, they want the IOC to make money with chess.

I can see it now it: 100 speed/blitz chess games simultaneously in the olympic stadium. pieces flying. clocks being smacked. 50 exhausted winners left standing. then the next round.....
