On Power of Mood & Suggestion in Chess

As a tool of the mind I imagine a blitz chess game as a street fight with rules. I develop an anger toward my opponent & refer to him in disparaging terms in my mind without his knowledge. To me he is a piece of crap, an ignorant has- been trying to play chess, an irritating SOB, anything goes. Cool

The point is to build oneself up into a hot fury of indignation, recalling bitterly all the near-wins & embarrasing defeats of the past. To resolve to play with preciseness, aggressiveness, accuracy, imagination, energy & above all a Trumpian self confidence. The self confidence is the key.Innocent

It is very helpful to smoke some Bud if you can to loosen up your mind & absorb suggestions to yourself.  Say to yourself :  "I am a Master Chess Player. My talent & skills are growing everyday." Laughing

Avoid negative self talk like: "I'm not very good." Cry  or "I'm just a patzer no matter what I do. I play half ass." Frown

So far I'm undefeated for today 3-0 for my 5 minute blitz games. Today I beat 3 guys so far all with ratings higher than me. Why? Because I am using the secrets of Mood & Suggestion I'm telling you about. Look for yourselves at my last 3 games since I made the psychological adjustment.Surprised

Now I have won my 4th game in a row to take me to 1005. 4 in a row because I'm one very angry player desperate to win.

Now I have won my 5th game in a row & am up to 1013.

Now I have won my 6th & 7th game in a row because I imagine chess as a street fight.  5 minute blitz is a street fight.

None of this is new.    you are very astute and should go far in chess.

you can not take prisoners.   you must totally and unconditionally vanquish your opponent.   Bobby Fischer always kept punching.    no nice guys in chess.    those that may appear so outwardly are really burning inside -- at least the most successful ones !

Fischer could have eased up on his opponents in match play, but did not.   The great grandmaster Taimanov had several adjourned games in his match with Fischer.   He begged for him to accept a draw in one game, if he'd resign the other.  Taimanov did not want to be totally shut out. Fischer heard nothing of that and beat him 6 - 0 with no Draws.

Mark Taimanov lost bad to Fischer because he was playing at the time the opening in which Fischer was jury and judge, the Sicilian.
