One vs two with bots

Was playing against a mid-range bot earlier (1100 rating) and it was a pretty even game, until it got down to my king vs his king and a pawn, which he managed to get promoted. After that, the algorithm seemed to go wild, the bot just kept making random stupid moves, rather than trying to checkmate me... In the end, I tried to force a draw, but after three attempts I gave up and hit resign. Bizarrely my ratings for the match were good (for me!) during opening and mid game, but rubbish during the end game (16%, because there were no good moves I could make!) and I got a 100 overall for the match! Do the bots always struggle with two on one situations?!
