I think the longer the time control, despite sometimes being boring for the younger generation, is the best for playing better chess. A lot of the better correspondence players don't move until their time is almost up, because they see the position differently and with a fresh perspective each respective time they look at it. I prefer to play fast, as it's more exciting, but I'm trying to wean away from that mentality and play slower, so that I can calculate as many possible variations as i can.

I'm leaning towards playing 5 days online chess games but not sure if that a very popular choice. I guess the people that use 5 days are a little more serious because they need more patience than a few days?
What do you prefer to play? And why?
