Online chess should not be rated

I can almost remember the invention of the Wheel.

the only fair play here is online chess.

in live chess you end up playing puppets. who fake a low rating. even grandmasters that work for chess.com. and simply pic and choose whether you win or not

Can't people in online chess do the exact same thing?
Anyways the ratings are hilarious because I went through one of the users in this thread's game history and most of his wins were by abandonment. You have so much time to move you either get bored or just forget.
My problem is that the rating in online chess gives people a false idea of their strength.

I'm tired of clowns with high CC rating who think they're good when they're real rating is half of it.

You and Kasparov have similar views about this subject and similar spelling habits.

He is right though, there are a lot of clowns around with online ratings nearly twice their bullet ratings.

Kasporov is not Kasparov - do not get the great involved in this!

Agreed, but we are discussing whether "clowns" is an appropriate title rather than, say, chessplayers

Chris-de-Burger

I think it's clowns, yes.

blueemu

I tried being a clown once, but I sucked at it.

I could never keep it straight... is it "laughing on the inside, and crying on the outside"?

Chris-de-Burger

No it's the other way around, they laugh to hide the tears.

I understand that some players are weaker at blitz, so why don't you play live standard? That would be a better reflection of your real strength. But even then it's so easy to cheat... thats why only blitz/bullet reflects playing levels here.

That sounds like my problem, right there.

Well blitz and bullet reflect playing levels, but playing levels for speed chess are totally different from those for CC. How does one arrive at the conclusion that CC is for clowns from that fact?

Yes.

Like mean as in brutal honesty or just plain mean?

Mean. Telling someone they should not be alive is stepping beyond the boundaries, even for internet flaming.
