believe there is a limit of around 30 days.

So they are using vacation that they are allowed to take.  What is your issue with it?

30 days, plus accruing a day every... two weeks, I think? So probably 32 days straight.

1. Am I required to accept/offer a rematch?

2. I am an agressive player, what opening should i play?

3. I am a tactical player, what opening should i play?

37. Im playing in an online tournament that im winning (of course), and my opponent went on vacation.  How do i report them?  How long can they stay on vcation? When will Blade 4 come out? 

I think you just made the entirety of chess.com's forums redundant.

Im actually shocked i forgot vacation on my list.

Premium members can bank more vacation days. Just looked at the help article and it looks like the accruals may have changed. 

If the member is platinum/diamond they can have 90 days banked and gain 5 a month (wonder when the latter changed ?). So, up to 105+ days. 

Gold is 60 days banked and 3 days per month.

If the game is completely lost, e.g. forced mate in a few moves or maybe a major material advantage, then a ticket can be entered and the site may adjudicate the game for vacation abuse.

I don't understand vacation days. To me it's like playing a game over the board with someone, and then they walk away from the game because they want to do something else. Well, why did you accept a chess game in the first place if you're "busy." It's nonsense. 

a necessary thing though dragonair , im in at present 18 online games for teams im in , just last week my comp battery went fzzzt splutter wheeeze erk

this meant without getting vacation sorted (panic trip to local library nd then having to remember my comp access password there lol) id have timed out in all 18

 im back up and running comp wise so its back to trying my best in the team games im in

basically , we all aint got access to a comp 356 days a year so i think vacation is a good thing when needed

be patient youngprodigy  re the vacationer they will eventually move or time out , meantime its one less game to tax your brain with

How many of your OTB games last months at a time or how many matches do you play that can take years to complete?

One of the tournaments I was in ended earlier this year. It started in February of 2011. Thanks to vacation time I didn't time out after a tornado left me without power for a while and had I not had auto-timeout protection I would have lost all the games in that tourney. As it stands, I only lost a couple of games in a different, no-vacation tourney.

Also, things just come up in life where you may not have time to dedicate to your games and taking vacation allows you to step away for a bit. When games can last months, sometimes that is needed.

I'm sorry but that sounds like your problem. Also there's no guarantee that others are as honest as you, if you are being honest. They should just get rid of vacation days. You should know if you're able to finish a chess game or not. If there are technical difficulties then that's not the fault of your opponent/s. 

You can'tdecide that in advance. Even in a 3 days per move game it could take between a month (with a move each day by both players) to a much longer time to complete. A 30 move game where both players use 3 days for each move would be just about 3 months.  

Vacation time is a part of the game. If you don't like it play in no vacation tourneys or play Live.

yeah im honest its easier than lying i find so i prefer to be honest , yes my post was specific to my situation but also makes a valid point to the op , i dont mind you questioning my post though this is cc forum and we all know that its full of folk just itching to get bitching ,
