only sudden death chess

When will chess.com offer some quick chess with an decent increment?  The way they are forcing their own time controls is a bit obnoxious.

I put in a time control of 2 minutes and 14 second increment and then I get a game of 10 minute sudden death.  Of course I don't realize it until its too late.

It takes forever unless you want to play sudden death chess anyway.

You can set your own time controls with increment and some of the defaults have increment. Not sure what happened in your case but when doing a Custom Challenge you can change those options.

You might like 5 5. I imagine 15 10 is too slow for you.  The Custom option allows a very wide range of possibilities, but not sure how long you would wait for a partner.

A 5 second increment is too short for me I end up dropping pieces.  It takes much longer to get matched if you are not using one of the standard time controls.  Its like they are trying to punish their customers if they do not use sudden death time controls.

Hi, okay so you'd be happy with 2 mins + 14s increment (probably tricky to find a match, I don't know if you can send this as a challenge?)

Which would be approx. 11m 20s game duration.

Average game approx. 40 moves

Base= 2 mins

Increment= 14s x 40 moves= 560s ÷ 60= 9.3333 mins (.3333r mins x 60= 20s)

9m 20s + 2 mins= 11m 20s game duration.

Why not try 5m + 10s increment?

Base= 5 mins

Increment= 10s × 40 moves= 400s ÷ 60= 6m 40s + 5 mins= 11m 40s game duration.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on wink.png
