Any help please..?
Thanks..
Logical Chess: Move by Move covers whole games, tactics, strategy, and openings. Here's an insightful review: http://chessskill.blogspot.com/2013/01/logical-chess-book-review.html
I would recommend Reti's masters of the Chessboard as an excellent first game collection.
Panayotis : my first reaction was : are you going to start a library to lend out books, as you mention even five subjects !
But, serious : you can help yourself (post 2) by telling us your age, how long do you play chess, what is your level, are you member of a club or only internet chess, how much hours per week do you have to spend reading a book on chess, what is your first interest ( openings or endgames ? --- I think Strategy and Tactics come later on and Game Collections is a nice hobby thereafter )
Believe me, many of us did the same, study and play, and we really can help you, as Ziryab and hicetnunc did !!!
Go to Chesstempo for tactics, then when you don't get simple tactics anymore do it in guest mode. As for books:
I second Logical Chess Move by Move

Maybe "My System" when you are 1400 strength. Not rating necessarily but strength.

Excellent text. Might be too advanced for a beginner. http://chessskill.blogspot.com/2008/08/la-crme-de-la-crme.html
Hi Ziryab,
It seems you have read a lot of books. I hope you won't mind one's asking what your OTB (FIDE) rating is. It will only help us newbies understand the value of going through all these books to assess where we may end up.
My profile shows 1982. That's USCF and was my peak eighteen months ago. A few months after that, I was the top rated played in my city (after a 2050 moved to another city). I've recently dropped to 1899, but will rise again.
My blog charts my progress, offers reviews of books and iOS apps, and is generally good reading: http://chessskill.blogspot.com/.
Thank you Ziryab!
I am an avid reader, so thank you for the reviews. In coming years, I hope to compete in tournaments and achieve a rating somewhere near yours.
Good luck with the new city, will bring you newer experiences and may you rise even higher than before.
I haven't moved. I rose to number one when a friend moved.
I've dropped to number 4 or 5 through some losses.

Oh, I am sorry. I was in a hurry and misread what you wrote. I hope you regain the number one position soon. :)
It might not be soon. In any case, I'm more interested in a trophy currently possessed by our city's number 1. http://www.spokanechessclub.org/City%20Championship.htm.
He earned the trophy by beating me. Hopefully I will get a chance for a rematch next summer. I'm proud of the kid, but I still want to knock him back down to size.
