Opposite coloured bishops

I was playing a few games and the position had a pawn structure that was closed like the bottom below, but with two opposite coloured bishops like so;

(This isn’t the real position) but I was wondering, do you want your pawns on the same colour as your bishop so they can’t get them as well and your bishop can defend them or do you want your pawns on the same colour as their bishop so your pawns limit the bishops space and your bishop can also attack their pawn chain that’s stuck on the opposite colour. So basically this is the alternative to the position above;

Just wondering!

Thank you! What about your own pawns against their bishop?
