Let's say a GM and an 1400 rated Patzer are taken prisoners and share a cell. Now let us say they are given a chess board. What scenario can you come up with?

I am going to say they both walk out at GM level in a series of 5 years.

It depends. If the 1400 rated patzer has a nickname of Bubba, the most likely scenario is that the grandmaster will never ever win a game against the 1400 rated player.
