So politically incorrect yet so true...

He was just an actor... whoop-dee-doo... Thousands die daily in car crashes... why don't you make posts about any one of them? Because they don't make movies. Or in this case, take a single hit movie and beat it like a dead horse (he was currently making NUMBER SEVEN of the Fast and Furious movies)

Scottrf

How can you make a post about someone you don't know? You'd have to be a special type of prick to write that post.

NomadicKnight

Does anyone here know Paul Walker? Highly doubtful... So how is he different from the little old lady who fell asleep at the wheel and plowed into a tree? Celebrities are no more special than any other person on this planet... but some misguided people seem to forget that and hold them up on a golden pedistal.

Scottrf

You don't get to decide whose lives are important or who people can care about.

Presumably people who know the old lady will grieve too. There isn't a limited capacity.

NomadicKnight

And yet you get to decide? And decide whether my point is valid or not (which it very well is and you know it). Sounds pretty hypocritical to me. Let me guess: You have a yearly subscription to People magazine, yeah?

We live in an age when celebrity lives are more important than regular people. We hold them up on altars and worship them for their grueling hard work as actors. I'd value the little old lady more than some type-cast actor who was goofing around with a buddy in a 100,000 dollar car.

No. Clearly you misunderstood my post.

The rest of your post is disrespectful and conjecture so I wont bother responding anymore.

I never saw any of the F&F movies but heard about this this morning. Born in 73, same as me. Sad to hear about this. One minute you're here the next your not. Terrible.

He is a name many people can identify with...somewhat of a common name. We can all collectively go...geez...dead...that's terrible. It's neither good nor bad to raise his death in a thread. It just is.

...not disrepectful, simply common sense. You epitomize what our modern society is all about these days. You get called on it and you turn tail. SMH... But thank you, glad you won't be responding anymore. Feel free to go back to your People magazine or US Weekly now.

This is the problem with stupid people. Misread posts then throw all sorts of baseless insults around.

While I agree with NK's point about our perverted culture of celebrity, the Kardashian clan and even dear ruler Obama come to mind, Scottrf is correct in you're being disrespectful and in my opinion a bit callous and very pious about it. I'm sure NK is a fan of someone, be it actor or musician, and if that person is killed tragically you would if you have a soul spare a thought for them. Whether a chess forum is appropriate is debatable though.

...and the pot calls the kettle black, ladies and gentlemen! Hey, didn't you say you weren't going to respond anymore? Reality just burns you up, don't it? LaughingLaughingLaughing

I didn't watch the movies and didn't know the fellow's name, but his face was somewhat familiar.

It's not improper to discuss someone who millions know in common. If nothing else it's a cautionary tale about being more careful in life.

From all accounts he was a decent human being and I don't understand why some are willing to curse him in death when they didn't curse him in life.

The worst part is his 15-yr-old daughter who will be forever hounded by the paparazzi and may struggle as privileged kids often do. There lies the ugly side of celebrity. Being rich and famous is definitely a mixed bag.

Yes, we all know how HORRIBLE it is to be rich and privilidged. What with all that sleeping under bridges and never knowing where your next meal is... Oh the tragedy! Sealed (Always love how celebrities claim how difficult their lives are. If they don't like it they don't have to act... just walk away into seclusion and quit whining))
