Pawn Sacrifice!

Which pawn in which game was sacrificed that the movie was named so? Or was it just a metaphor?
Just a movie title.
I think there was one, but I can't remember which one.
Fischer was the Pawn that the US sacrificed. They wanted him to beat the Russians so bad that they had Secretary of State Kissinger beg him to play and several other people were around to push him.
Then when he played the Russians later while the US had a sanction against them, they declared him a criminal.
From his perspective, which was admittedly not very stable, he was a pawn in the cold war.
