Paws protecting the King and back rank mate

I've read in "logical chess move by move" that moving the paws protecting the king after castling to avoid for example bishop pins is a weak move unless really necessary. I've read however somewhere else that is actually good to weaken the bishops, and isn't anyway a problem later in the game with back rank checks? Thoughts?

There is no general rule. Every position requires its own evaluation.

Indeed, you should look at each specific position and the degree of availability and pieces amount.

i read that book aswell, i think the point is that its not a bad move as such, but every move has + and - and u have to realise that minus side is uve weakened your king
