People Who Don't Place Pieces CENTRALLY on squares...

I think when they point backwards they smile at me funny. When they point forward, they show me their butt.

Sideways is best. They go careening and fall.

Does anybody have any good stories of opponents declaring J'doube every turn single turn to adjust the orientation of a knight?

Me? I point my knights backwards.

Their job is to follow orders, not to see my plan.

Information about the board is on a need-to-know basis for my pieces.

I prefer them to be facing backwards, unable to see the board so that they more readily follow my orders.

That's OK because I know the ladies aren't so spatially cognisant as us gentlemen , so I would cut you some slack, especially if you are pretty Smile

"assumed" spatially cognizant ramifications VS. an "obvious" obsessive compulsive disorder?  ur the one who might need some slack.  HaHa

Last weekend I played a young woman. I had to adjust her very decentralised pieces about six times ! I reflected on how untidy a house she must keep !

Strangely enough I watched Bowies film the other night. It was a peculiar if not interesting film. I was only paying half attention as the fan on my PC was quite loud - so will  have to watch again....

My crusade against decentralised piece and pawn placers has now been vindicated ! Jesus has appeared on my kitchen floor underneath the removed tiles. Now no one can say I have OCD ! Will place pictures in Off Topic forum !

I don't need the pieces to be bang in the centre, but I expect them to be placed so they are not part situated on a surrounding square.

Chess OCD is quite common I have noticed. Some players may just have general OCD in every day life, and some I would imagine it will be specific to chess.

I like the Knights to point forwards. But many like to have them placed sideways. I really don't care about that, its my opponents pieces and they can have them facing either way as suits them. But mine.... they will point forward and opponents should respect and accept that.

Obsessive CHESS Disorder ;-)

I point my knight in the exact opposite direction of the part of the board I don't want my opponent looking at. It works 75% of the time.

I don't like them pointing forward at all! it's a very aggressive stance. I would politely jadoobydoo the opponents knights sideways.

Thats a bit cheeky. Its ultimately up to your opponent which way their Knights face. If they insist they face forwards, thats how it has to be. I prefer facing forwards, but I don't insist the same of my opponent.

Played today against a young fellow today and I must have adjusted his pieces about ten times. Towards the end of the game he was moving and then making sure his pieces were centrally placed - adjusting after just taking his hand off. The game was drawn but it was a victory for centralisation !

Internet is your place @OP

Ziggy_Zugzwang

No, I just practice here ! Laughing

OTB games are not your cup of tea.

DoctorStrange

I was laughing when I saw the title..

Dadg777

You shouldn't adjust your opponet's pieces unless you want 5 upside your lip, a la Fred Sanford.  Ne touch pas.

Bearing in mind I've been playing forty years, I beg to differ ....If we played there is only a remote chance I would hit you over the head if you decentralised ! One lump or two ? Laughing

Carlsen seemed super anal in this video I recently watched agained Yifan. He was straightening every piece like it was getting ready for a glamor shoot.
