People who quit after 1 move!

I have had a few games start (with newbs 1200 ranking) they make 1 move and don't come back.

I find this very annoying, can something be done?

like hunt them down and exacute them or worse banish them from chess.com

Or worse still get Eric to talk to them about chess for 2 hours, Just joking about the last one.

yeah, it happened to me like........ 6-10 times already

When it happens to me, I abort the game as soon as I suspect. If they were genuine (they never have been, so far) they can always drop a note or re-challenge. Easy and not at all annoying, for me. Innocent

its happened to me a few times, but i dont mind it that much

Aborting the game in the first four moves does not affect ratings, or is even recorded. Painless.

i still like the idea of flogging them!
Utopia
I prefer them toasted with a little sesame oil and brie cheese.

I think I saw that on "top chef."

Had a little look at the two games you mention... okay the  9 move game was resigned for no good reason. However, the 5 move move game is correctly resigned by your opponent... he's just fallen foul of what's called a "family fork". Is this when the abuse arose?

I also noticed that you've only finished 5 games, this is not a large enough sample for your rating to be reliable. The small size of the sample also allows crazy swings in the rating. When you have played more games (say 25) individual results have far less impact and your rating will normalize.

Don't worry, if your rating is too high, then it will come down.

It's still annoying.  And besides in my opinion and always when I was growing up if you quit a game (no matter what game, and no matter at what point after the game had actually started) you lost.

It happened to me for hell a lot of time, also same topic i posted in this forum. People adviced me to abaort. Iam doing that.

I've had several where I accept the game but no move happens.  I abort. But I don't see this as quitting.  You have to adapt to the online world.  For me, these games never started.  I think there are folks who pump their rating by hoping life gets in your way at some point and they'll win on time.  Best way to defeat this is to play 14 day moves, play fast, and never miss.  Honest games will move along and you can record the cheaters and never play them again.

14 days per move doesn't mean you want it to take so long.  It means you have time 28 moves from now to take a vacation without losing.  :-)

I think it does still count as a win even if your rating isn't affected.

Any fixes? It still quits after each move with live player

So you want Erik to work overtime for the rest of his life?

How and why the hell do you bump 10 year old threads?
