People Who Run Away After 1 Win

People have lives, you know... They do things besides chess....

Do not feed the troll. If we cannot teach critical thinking in college, (for all who share the opinion that they were CLEARLY the superior player, and have the RIGHT (I don't see it anywhere in the constitution, and the ethical agrument for it is incorrect at best.) to demand a rematch, even though the opponent might have euphonium lessons..... (You never know.)) we certainly cannot change it on chess.com forums... I doubt that the OP will ethier A) ever change his mind, or B) (More likely IMO.) change his trollish ways.

This conversation is over....

I just declined a rematch yesterday.  My higher rated opponent thought he had me and said "good game" in the chat before the game was over.  He snapped off my queen and I snapped off his king.  He wanted a rematch but he had upset me so I took a shower and got dinner.  I ran the computer analysis and I was ahead the whole way and missed a mate in 2 before I got him.

edit:  Here is the game.  Apparently it is the highest rated opponent I have beaten.

Money the bottom line?

"I only have time for one game"... "Oh I have a bad internet connection"... "I have to make dinner"... "I have to leave to go to work"... "Like zoh my gosh my cell phone's ringing"... Excuses, excuses, and more excuses. NONE of these bad sports that have commented so far, NONE of them have the GUTS to admit that they're just afraid of losing a rematch.

I ALWAYS let people have at least ONE rematch, I extend that courtesy to ALL of my opponents, and I challenge ALL OF YOU to be as good of a sport as I am and to show the same "one rematch" courtesy to your opponents as I always show to mine.

Well I may be one of those bad sports. The thing is, no one has challenged a rematch to me.

To OP, looking at your record, you have bigger problems than getting a rematch.  Why would someone want to play you twice?  Waste of time.

As many politicians would say to prostitutes, "suck it up, biotch".

Which country has the most "Win and Run" players?

WARP or WRP = Win and Run Player

Which is better?

All these comments on this thread, and still NOBODY has the GUTS to step up and say that they will ALWAYS accept at least ONE rematch from their opponents, as I already do. That alone speaks VOLUMES.

Welcome to online chess!

Took me over a year to relize the difference from sitting at the table.

Suggestion for Chess.com. Put a sign: Chess is not for suckers. Play at your own Risk. NO REMATCH. Repeat: NO REMATCH.

Read the previous threads about the same topic.

These threads never change. I'm sorry that you have this viewpoint.

What a surprise. Here are some bad sports commenting this thread now. Instead of having an intelligent, expletive-free discussion about the topic, they throw insults to try to defend their poor sportsmanship but it's not working.

OK, how about this: I believe you are simply wrong. I respect my opponent's wishes. If they don't wish a rematch, they don't wish a rematch. I don't attach any opprobrium to that. It is their right as a player. I may wish a rematch, and I may be disappointed that they don't want to play again, but I will never criticize them for not choosing a rematch. Just as I don't criticize a player for wishing to continue in what I would consider a hopeless position, or criticize a turn-player for taking almost all of his time for each and every move. My opponents have every right to play this way--there is nothing in the rules that prohibit them from doing so. I would rather they didn't, but that's just my preference.

I save my ire for legitimate causes, harsh or innappropriate chat for instance. Now that may be an indication of true unsportmanship. But in your case you are projecting your personal preferences onto your opponents and then criticizing them when they behave differently.

Perhaps you are unaware that is what you are really doing. I've now made you aware, so the next move is up to you. You can continue in this, or choose to respect your opponents.

Yes, it does speak volumes. I think now it's pretty clear that everyone here disagrees with you. I rarely ever accept a rematch, because, well, there is absolutely no obligation to. Just because some people like to feel all offended and superior is not a reason to play them again.
