People who wait until the last hour on 3-day moves everytime

This really annoys me, playing 3-day games in tournaments and certain players wait until it's 1h left on their time before they make their move, every.. time...

Sometimes they wait until it's 1h left, then they put vacation mode on.

I really don't get these people, yea you have 3 days but.. just because you have it doesn't mean you have to use it on every move.

And yea I know the solution, don't sign up for 3day games, and I won't, but this is just from an ongoing tournament and now I have two of these guys doing this.

Hi!

This is unfortunate and can be considered stalling in games. If you do believe the user is stalling send in a report. We do not tolerate this it's considered bad sportsmanship.

Thanks I did report one of them about a week ago, guess I might send one for the other one as well.

Sometimes I wait until the last 10 hours in a 24 hour but that can be due to sleep. Waiting until the 10 hour mark on a 3 DAY is unacceptable.

time is time, then set 1 day

Like I wrote I won't be doing anymore 3d games, this is a tournament that I just want to finish.

Yes it's following the rules, but at the same time, waiting until the last hour for every single move is something else, like I wrote, just because you have 3 days doesn't mean you have to use it everytime, I think it's more that they just want people to resign.

I do not know whom you are playing but I don't think that their plan is to have their opponent resign. I personally sometimes make a move in a 3d game when there are only 5-10 hours left. That usually happens when work and/or personal stuff get a bit time consuming and I just don't have the time or the energy to think through what my next move should be and I do not want to lose a game just because I was in a hurry to make a move. Those periods of time can sometimes take a couple of weeks so it might happen that for maybe five moves in a row I make them in the last 24 hours. So to conclude, I think that there are valid reasons for late moves but sure, if it is done on purpose to annoy someone, that is not cool.

Some are hoping for a resignation or an opponent time out. Some are just being trolls. Some have valid reasons.

At some point it would be extraordinary for someone to have a schedule that only allows them to act at the very last hours of the three days after an opponent moves. It is going to happen here or there but eventually the pattern will be impossible to explain away as other than willful stalling.

If you don’t like it that way, as you said, you shouldn’t play 3 day per move games. This is completely legal by the main rules (it is not because of bad implementation of the rules

The rules against abusing the time limits to stall in hopes of inducing a frustrated resignation or just to be a vindictive sore loser are also rules.

Sure, if this situation is going on forever it probably isn't due to a full schedule or a hectic two or three weeks.

I myself played against people who made all their moves in the last hours of their time (which never really bothered me) and I noticed that usually it's people who play a lot of simultaneous games (I have seen some that played more than 100) and I think for them it is the only way of playing if they do not want to invest all of their time in chess.
