people who will not move because they are losing

Just chalk it up to someone being a sore loser and move on with your life. At least he didn't run the clock down to 3 seconds and make a move, hoping you'd already disconnected and would therefore time out.

If they show that kind of behavious often enough, they'll not be able to play games anymore:

it's bad sportsmanship, but it's legal. you sign up for a certain timeframe when the game starts, and either player can use that time however he/she likes. :)

You can use the time to do something else, grab a snack, read email, watch another game, etc. I believe you can start another game, but if you opponent comes back you'd have two games going.

Well I don't think he did name his opponent. Searching gobbydook shows no results, so it appears to be a made up name. A beer sounds good, thanks for the suggestion, even if I don't have an opponent running down the clock.

lol... any excuse for a beer...
Right I will have one just cos you guys are mentioning beers all over this forum (twice )

Just think of it this way. Your opponent spent 17 minutes and 49 seconds staring at an imminent loss. You on the other hand, had 17 minutes and 49 seconds to embrace an imminent victory. Success is so much better when you have the time to enjoy it.

It's always refreshing to read a calm, reasoned analysis.
A beer does sound good.

Good point, and if I didn't have to go out I'd have a beer too. Oh well, gives me something to look forward to when I get back.

I'm going to drink red wine and play 1 minute chess. If my opponent wants to run down the clock then I will only have time for one or two sips!!!

Yeah, I totally agree with you, ziarko. One time, I was playing <NAME DELETED BY MODERATOR>, and I complicated the game with my genius and he didn't move for a hwile, but I knew it wasn't because he was thinking; it was because he was a $#!+face f--k...not just he, of course, but also <NAME DELETED BY MODERATOR>. In fact, I would label both of them as bigger turd deep-throaters than <NAME DELETED BY MODERATOR>, <NAME DELETED BY MODERATOR>, and <NAME DELETED BY MODERATOR> combined, which makes them far worse than even <NAME DELETED BY MODERATOR>. You clearly see the kind of people I am talking about! Unfortunately you can't avoid them on this site (yes, people just like <NAME DELETED BY MODERATOR>, exactly).

Example of Ad Hominem:
Poster 1: 'So and So' refused to move.
Poster 2: It's not appropriate to name and shame players in the forums
Poster 3: You don't own this place
Poster 2: You must be off your meds if a chess.com member can't quote site rules without offending you.
Poster 4: Ad Hominem!!!
Did I get it right? I'll have another beer while anxiously waiting for your approval.
