Perpetual check in prison

As you all know, I am currently serving a 15 year sentence behind bars. During recreation time in the courtyard, I had a game with one of the inmates. I was winning, but out of no where, he forced a draw via perpetual check.

Perpetual checks should be seriously banned from chess. There should be an extra saving move that would allow the game to continue. Pathetic to be forcing draws just because you are losing the game.

Well, in reality there is no perpetual check. The game gets drawn by triple repetition or by 50 moves with no captures or pawn moves. But that is one of the skills in chess; being aware of the opponent's resources and not allowing those types of draws if possible.

He evidently wasn't losing. He had a drawn game.

// Playing by the rules is a good thing.

It is part of the game.

He was losing, but I found myself in perpetual. Pathetic of that inmate to draw the game like that.

This thread is about perpetual, not directly about my punishment.

Do not worry about perpetuals in prison, but watch out for that kingside penetration...

It's what gives lost players hope.

If he had a perpetual check, you were not winning.  You were drawing.

"I was winning... He was losing..." What the heck does this mean? I have no clue...  I know what it means to have an advantage - in material, piece coordination, development, initiative, space, pawn structure etc. But having an advantage doesn't mean you win the game, checkmate does. So you can have an advantage but you opponent forces a perpetual check, you can't deliver checkmate, it's a draw.

Chess.com is very popular among inmates all around the world. Better watch your back these days.
